Legendary live sound mixer Robert Scovill will make a presentation on the continuing convergence of live sound and recording workflows and technologies for the concert sound market. Robert will share his views on the pros and cons of this rapidly changing market and provide demonstrations of current Avid technologies including VENUE live sound mixing and Pro Tools recording systems the new VENUE link feature.
Robert Scovill is an audio renaissance man with interests and activities spanning a wide breadth of professional audio. Robert is a 30-year veteran of professional concert sound and recording and has mixed over 3000 events in his career. His engineering and production talents have been enlisted by a veritable ‘Who’s Who’ of marquee music acts including Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Matchbox Twenty, Prince, Rush and Def Leppard. Scovill’s body of live sound and recording work has garnered numerous industry accolades including 6 TEC Awards for technical and creative achievement in sound reinforcement. He most recently received a nomination for Mobile Productions “Top Dog” FOH Engineer of the year while being awarded the 2010 Parnelli Award for FOH Mixer of the Year for his work with Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers.
As the owner of Eldon’s Boy Productions Inc. and MusiCanvas Recorders in Scottsdale, AZ, he offers full service mixing facility and mobile recording services. Robert has served as producer and creative director for audio, lighting and media departments at Mountain Valley Community Church also in Scottsdale. He’s a highly sought after consultant and guest lecturer at various other churches across America including a recent appearances at Saddleback Church & Willow Creek Community Church, voted as two of the most influential churches in America.
As an educator, Robert has lectured throughout the world on concert sound and recording practices at seminars and trade shows, and is a regular contributor to numerous industry publications. Robert also serves on the board of advisors for The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences (CRAS) where he developed their highly regarded live sound curriculum. In addition, Robert also leads an annual 3 day workshop entitled “The Complete Front Of House Engineer”
Robert’s profile includes positions as a technical consultant for many of the top name manufacturers in professional audio, including Avid, Neumann, Audio Technica, Electrovoice, Servo Drive, and Alesis. He currently holds the position of Senior Market Specialist for Avid, contributing to all aspects of their burgeoning presence in the live event market. He has held the title of endorser for numerous products, including Avid’s VENUE live sound environment, Neumann Microphones, ATI Paragon, Intersonics loud speakers, Future Sonics ear monitors, and countless others throughout the years. In 2006 Robert served as guest speaker delivering the keynote address for the Annual AES conference in San Francisco.
