This seminar is divided into 3 parts.

► Lee Minich will first present a summary about the “history” of audio networking
standards.

► He will then give an in-depth explanation of AVB with discussions on the
advantages of an open non-proprietary technology, the manufacturers’ role and
the cost-effectiveness of AVB solutions.

“The evolution of digital audio and video networking is upon us. Increasing
manufacturers’ understanding and implementation of AVB networking will unify,
and more importantly, grow the entire industry,”
stated Minich.

There are four primary differences between the proposed AVB architecture and
existing 802 architectures :
1. precise synchronization,
2. traffic shaping for media streams,
3. admission controls, and
4. identification of non-participating

► The last part will be a question-time open to questions from attendees regarding AVB and other audio networking standards.
